Cranberry Gems


1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1 cup finely chopped dried cranberries
1 cup finely chopped pecans (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs and beat thoroughly. Stir in vanilla, baking soda and salt. Gradually mix in flour. Fold in rolled oats, cranberries and pecans. Drop by teaspoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake on middle rack for about 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 4 dozen.
