1 cup of flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2 tablespoons of yellow cornmeal
1 & 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
2 tablespoons of shortening
3/4 cups of milk
1 egg, beaten
Oil for frying
How to Make:
Mix flour, sugar, cornmeal, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
With a fork, fold in 2 tablespoons of shortening until mixture resembles fine crumbs.
Combine egg and milk in a small bowl.
Add to dry mixture and mix well.
Pat frankfurters dry with paper towels.
Insert wooden skewer in end of each.
Dip franks into batter, being careful to coat all sides. Let excess batter drip off.
