A New Way to Make Sweet Potatoes

Potatoes have always been a part of my diet. Since learning about the health benefits of eating starches with every meal, I would eat russet potatoes like they were going out of style. Recently, however, I was introduced to the benefits and the delicious taste of sweet potatoes and I’ve never looked back since!

Sweet potatoes are perfectly healthy, and are a great starch for your meal. They have over 200% of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin A and 29% of vitamin C in only one small sweet potato. In addition, they are packed full of fiber in comparison with regular potatoes.

The typical way that most people make sweet potatoes is baking them in the oven. It is also common to cook them in the microwave, but there is a better method. When you use this method, they will not only turn out creamier, they will have much more flavor!

Start by rinsing and scrubbing the outside of the potato and then poke some holes in them with a fork. After you have done that, simply throw them in the crockpot. You don’t even need to dry them, the water that is left over from rinsing will provide the liquid that is necessary to cook them properly.

Set the crockpot on low and allow the sweet potatoes to cook for between 6 to 7 hours. You can cook up to four potatoes at a time in this way. If you’re pressed for time or if you are just impatient, set the crockpot on high and cook them for three hours. In either case, you should end up with perfectly delicious sweet potatoes with almost no effort!
