Baked potatoes are a wonderful treat for lunch, dinner or even an afternoon snack. Although I’ve been making baked potatoes for years, I had never heard about making them like this. It is a special way of cutting the potato so that once you bake it, it’s not only delicious, it’s a lot of fun!
You are sure to love this way of making a baked potato and it is a great way to introduce baked potatoes to your children as well. It only takes a few extra moments to prepare but the difference in the way that they bake is absolutely incredible.
The first thing you do is pick out your potato and slice off the top.
Use a sharp knife to cut 5 or 6 rings inside of the potato, depending upon the size.
After the rings have been cut, flip the potato over and begin making cuts around the entire outside of the potato. Make sure you leave a piece in the middle of the potato that you don’t cut.
Flip the potato back over and you should see that the rings you initially cut have been sliced into smaller sections.
Drizzle some olive oil over the potato and sprinkle it with sea salt.
After the potato has been in the oven for about 30 minutes, you can already begin to see the beauty of this dish.
After the potato has baked for an hour in the oven, your mouth will be watering!
Cover the potato with some shredded cheese.
Now look at how delicious it is after it comes out of the oven.
Top it off with some crispy bacon to make this side dish and absolute masterpiece. You can also add any additional toppings, or even make it a loaded baked potato.
The magic of this dish is that the smaller rings and cuts make the skin crispier and it fills every crevice with delicious cheese.
