Deep Fried Pickles


A simple crowd pleaser, these spicy pickles are delicious with a mayo-cilantro sauce!

2 1/2 cups sliced pickles
1 cup flour
1 cup coarse cornmeal
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1/2 tsp. chipotle
1/4 tsp. sea salt
canola oil for deep frying

Hot Sauce
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1/8 cup chopped cilantro
juice of 1 lime
1 minced garlic clove
hot sauce to taste

Dry pickles on a tea towel.
Mix breading ingredients together and coat in pickles.
Add to oil heated to 350 degrees a handful at a time, letting get slightly brown and and float to the surface.
Hot Sauce
Mix dipping sauce ingredients together and serve.

The trick is to cut them 1/2 and inch thick and let them dry for a minimum of 10 minutes on a tea towel. Don’t skip this step.
