There are a few things that I love in life and I think that bacon is at the top of the list. Not only is it delicious, it seem to go great with everything! I love having a few strips of bacon in the morning with breakfast, some on my BLT at lunch and then a generious helping with a grilled steak for dinner.
Of course, there are many other ways to enjoy this tasty treat but once you try this bacon brittle, all bets will be off. It is absolutely delicious and the combination of the salty flavor of bacon, combined with the sweetness of hard sugar is likely to leave a smile on your face that will never come off.
This is a snack made in heaven. Salty and sweet, what could be better?
If you crave bacon, you will love eating it suspended in crunchy and sweet brittle. It’s the ultimate way to change things up and delight the taste buds.
First, gather your ingredients
9×13″ Baking Sheet
Room Temp Butter, just to coat the Baking Sheet
1 1/2 cups Sugar
1/2 cup Light Corn Syrup
3/4 cup cold Water
Pinch of Salt
1 lb Crispy and Crumbled Bacon
1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
1 tsp. Baking Soda
Brush a 9×13″ Baking Sheet with butter and set aside.
Combine the Sugar, Corn Syrup, Water and Salt in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.
Cook, swirling occasionally, until mixture reaches the softball stage on a candy thermometer (238 degrees).
Stir in the crispy and crumbled Bacon, continue to cook, stirring often so the Bacon doesn’t burn, until the mixture is amber in color!
Carefully stir in the Vanilla and Baking Soda. The mixture will foam up in the pan.
Pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and quickly spread it evenly. Set aside until it’s completely cool.
Gather your friends and family around and have a blast breaking the brittle and eating it!
