The perfect homemade cranberry sauce with apple & cinnamon complements.
12 oz. of cranberries, washed
1 small to medium fuji apple, diced small
3/4 cup orange juice
2 tbsp. water
1/2 cup vegan cane sugar (or to taste)
1/4 cup light brown sugar
a dash of ground cinnamon
orange zest from one washed orange, optional
Combine cranberries, orange juice, and water in a medium sauce pan.
Place on medium high heat and stir often.
Cook the cranberries until they begin to audibly pop. Continue to stir often, as mixture begins to thicken. Please do to be tempted to place cornstarch in mixture, it will thicken!
Once it is thick and jellied, add both of your sugars and a dash of ground cinnamon.
Once everything is all combined, remove cranberry sauce from heat, and stir in your orange zest from one washed orange, and stir that in well.
Place your prepared cranberries in the refrigerator overnight to mold together.
