Strom-Dough-Li Recipe

Total Time: 25 mins | Makes: 1 Stromboli
We love the Stromboli, the Italian-American pizza roll. We simplified things a bit here, with store-bought pizza dough and a once-over rolling technique. Our filling calls for marinara, shredded mozzarella, ham, and fresh chiles, but don’t be shy about freestyling with other cured meats and cheeses, herbs, veggies—the beauty of a Stromboli (er, Strom-Dough-Li) is its versatility.

What to buy: Bags of pre made pizza dough are available in 14- or 16-ounce portions at well-stocked groceries. If you’d like to make your own, you’ll need two-thirds of our Basic Pizza Dough recipe.

INGREDIENTS
1 package store-bought pizza dough
Marinara Sauce
3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 ounce sliced ham
1 jalapeño, thinly sliced

INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Roll out the pizza dough into a 10-by-16-inch rectangle and transfer to a baking sheet.

Spread the bottom half with marinara sauce and layer on the mozzarella, ham, and sliced jalapeño.

Fold over a 1-inch strip of dough across the bottom, then fold in the two sides.

Roll up from the bottom and seal the edges.
Bake until puffed and brown, about 15 to 20 minutes.
